Obsessed With the Right Things – Breast Cancer Foundation [NSFW]

Posted on 12 October 2010 by Matt

This link (while they ads are technically art, they are probably NSFW) contains some great ads for what I would call putting breast cancer into perspective. The images are reminiscent of a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition circa 2004 when they started painting suits (also NSFW) on the models as opposed to having them actually wear them.

Essentially they images are saying who cares about these things (the size of your butt, your hair, or a pimple) when there are so many things worse in life. Be happy with the good things in life and not consumed by those that ultimately don't matter.

One of the commenters of the original post asks the question "Do women like this?" He (I'm assuming) automatically assumes that a) no they don't and b) all those involved must have been men. I'm not sure you can jump to either of those conclusions, but it does beg the question of whether or not the message lost.

Creative McDonald’s Coffee Ad – Nappers

Posted on 01 September 2010 by Matt

Last week I mentioned ads that make you think (hopefully for only a second or two), but once you get them they are quite clever. Here is another good example from McDonald's on a Canadian subway car.

Coffee

The adweek article makes an interesting point on ad placement: you would have issues putting this in a NY or DC subway car because sleeping in them may not be the safest choice. It is important to think about the different meanings an ad takes in different locations.

Motorola Goes After Antennagate Too

Posted on 28 July 2010 by Matt

Samsung isn't the only one going after Apple and AT&T for the issues with the iPhone4 antenna issues. Motorola just put out an ad that is pretty funny and is clearly taking a shot at the iPhone. I happen to like the Samsung ad better, but Motorola's is still clever. Do you have a preference? Hit up the comments.

Samsung Galaxy Ad Rips on AT&T

Posted on 27 July 2010 by Matt

Came across this Samsung Galaxy S ad and thought it was really good advertising. It is well thought out, creative, and funny. I think ad placement here is key though. I'm assuming you'd find this in a Wired magazine as opposed to ESPN and thats important because this ad is geeky.

Samsung Galaxy S Ad Rips on AT&T

If you don't get it (an know me) then you need to get out from under a rock. They are taking a stab at AT&T/Apple for the sub-par reception on the iPhone4. My personal belief is that it isn't a huge deal, but I'm not using one. Apple did show a couple of phones, Samsung included, that also had reception issues. Samsung responded, but my guess is that some damage was done. I think this ad says a lot without saying much at all.
